The international group of scientists from the United States and the Great Britain found that cognitive endurance development – the ability to concentrate on complex tasks for a long time – could significantly increase the academic performance of school children. The study was published scientifically broadcasting Journal of three months of economy (QJE).
Cognitive durability allows the preservation of performance while performing complex tasks, improving performance in a wide range of objects, including mathematics and English.
More than 1,600 students from 66 Pakistani schools attended the experiment. Children performed tasks on tablets that require concentration and cognitive efforts: solving mathematical problems and puzzles.
Children who develop cognitive durability have decreased by 22% less in performance performance of tasks such as solidarity and control.
The study also revealed that an additional academic year increased cognitive resistance, but only in schools with high -quality education. In noisy and unprocessed classes, this skill is difficult to develop, which further worse the inequality between students from different socio-economic groups.
