Sexologists discover what it takes to make a good threesome

Researchers at the University of Minnesota Duluth found that heterosexual men are more satisfied with their triplet experience, especially if it involves a regular partner. Article published Sexual Behavior Archives.

Sexologists interviewed 217 straight men and 59 straight women about their most recent triple experiences. 29.6% of the participants were married, 23.6% were single, 18.1% were in an open or polygamous relationship, 14.9% were in a monogamous relationship, 7.2% were in a new relationship. and 6.8% marked the “other” option for their relationship status.

The researchers evaluated how the last group sex experience met the participants’ expectations, the likelihood of rejoining the group sex, and whether they experienced orgasm. They also found how satisfaction with group gender depended on the gender of the person and the gender of the participants.

The average score for meeting expectations was 3.74 on a 5-point scale, meaning the experience was “slightly better than expected.” In addition, the majority of the participants stated that they wanted to repeat the experience and 87.7% of them reached orgasm.

Men reported more positive experiences than women, especially when two women had sex. Additionally, group sex with a romantic partner was rated more positively than with random people.

While research has shown significant interest in trios among adults, it’s not entirely clear how the benefits and harms of such sexual behavior are related. Scientists have shown that trios can be enjoyable for heterosexual men and women, especially when it comes to a regular partner. Although this study needs confirmation, it will influence sexologists’ recommendations, as the results may be explained by the greater willingness of people to participate in the study who were satisfied with their group sex experience.
