A group of international scientists, including experts in the field of geology, hydrology, chemistry and physics, discovered new data on the control of Los Chokios, which took place about 80,000 years ago on the territory of Modern Guatemala. The study was published scientifically magazine Communication World and Environment (CEE).
The superiority of Los Chokoos, which occurred in the field of ATITLAN volcanic system, was considered one of the most powerful world history. It is assumed that the ashes that were previously thrown into the atmosphere cause a global cooling that could lead to the beginning of the glacier. However, a new study refutes this theory.
Scientists examined the ice seeds obtained in Greenland and Antarctica, which includes information about the composition of the atmosphere during the explosion and in the following years. The analysis of the ice layers made it possible to create a definite explosion date about 79500 years ago.
Researchers also confirmed that the explosion was a disaster: numerous ashes caused global cooling and sunlight. However, contrary to expectations, the ashes dispersed in just a few decades, which allowed the climate to heal rapidly.
These results question the theory that future supers can provoke a new glacial age and threaten the existence of humanity. Scientists are planning to continue research to examine the results of other old super and improve the forecasting of possible climate changes in the future.
Previously, scientists ApprovedSupervolcans cannot organize a glacial age around the world.
