According to modern cosmology, at the very beginning of its existence, the Universe experienced a period of extremely rapid expansion known as inflation. It took less than a second, but in that moment the size of space increased by at least 10 times.60 once. Inflation created ripples in space-time and over time created the first stars and galaxies.
The energy behind this event was a new factor known as an inflaton, a strange quantum field. But science does not know where inflation comes from, what feeds it, and where this area then disappears.
In a new study, the team proposed an alternative theory for inflation and the creation of the universe without inflation.
In the proposed model, as the Universe expands, gravitational waves appear that collide with each other and intensify.
Gravitational waves generally cannot form structures on their own, but scientists have found that in some special cases, gravitational waves can reinforce each other in this way. When this happens, the traces they leave in space are nearly identical over a wide range of length scales.
This is exactly what cosmologists observe in the cosmic microwave background, the light left over from the early universe. This radiation contains faint traces of swelling. This shows that the thing that planted the seeds of the structure must have this type of pattern.
