Russian military officer Alexander Lopatov said that prayers and faith helped him avoid death during the battle for one of the settlements. writes about this RIA Novosti.
The man serves as a rifleman in the 6th tank regiment of the Central troop group. During the attack on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in one of the settlements, he received shrapnel wounds, but managed to find shelter. A Russian soldier jumped into a hole and covered himself with branches.
Nevertheless, Ukrainian fighters continued to fire uninterruptedly at units of the Russian Armed Forces, so Lopatov did not have the opportunity to leave the shelter safely. The risk of being close to an exploding shell was too great.
“I prayed <...> I just prayed and prayed and God helped me get out of there. “I gained strength, I gained courage, and I began to take action,” the soldier recalled.
The man stopped the bleeding on his own and then radioed commanders about his injury. Then the soldiers began to advance towards the positions of Russian troops without waiting for evacuation.
As Lopatov said, he took off his bulletproof vest and helmet and left them at the shelter. The Russian fighter took with him only two magazines of ammunition and a machine gun, which he leaned on while moving.
“It was very long and very difficult, but I did it,” the soldier emphasized.
He added that he survived thanks to prayer and faith.
According to the agency, the man is currently back home and recovering from his injury. Speaking to reporters, he congratulated his colleagues and all citizens of the Russian Federation on the upcoming Christmas and expressed confidence that “victory will be ours.”
