Netflix’s Argentine music idol Lorenzo Ferro

Netflix addresses the tragic side of fame ‘Fanatic’, The new Spanish drama is a fiction filmed in Barcelona to the rhythm of a trap that, incidentally, is tearing apart the urban music industry. To do this, he has some young actors with singing experience. Argentine like the protagonist Lorenzo Ferro (in the music world small child), Y Charlotte Urdiales’s photo. He also composed several songs for the series produced by Alizz, which launched the careers of C. Tangana and Rosalia.

Lorenzo, you play two main characters: Chimera, the musical idol who dies in the middle of a concert, and Lázaro, the fan who impersonates him on the nets after his death. Was it difficult for you to bring two such different characters together?

Lorenzo Ferro: I’ve never played two characters in the same project before. It’s one of those things that you think will be very difficult, but when you do it, you realize it’s an exaggeration. Their biggest differences are in their private lives and what they have in common is fame. As if fame was a language and they both spoke the same language. Knowing that this connection existed made it less difficult.

Which one looks more like you?

Lorenzo Ferro: When I was in a darker and deeper world, I felt that the Chimera was me, and when I wanted to go out and eat the world, Lázaro was me.

Carlota, you play Chimera’s girlfriend, Mia, who has a hard time accepting that there is someone replacing her boyfriend.

Carlota Urdiales: She’s a complex character because she’s pretty obvious. She wants to move on with her life, but she’s angry, has a constant buzzing in her head, and it’s normal for her boyfriend to be angry with the crook who usurped his identity.

Would you like to sing on the show like Lorenzo did?

Carlota Urdiales: Yes, but my character is far from that. But it was a plus that the series dealt with the music industry and was about trap and city music, which are now being heard. This will convince young rock.

Lorenzo Ferro: If the knee isn’t in your eyes, it’s in your ears.

Apart from the actors, both of them are singers. Do you think the series reflects the music industry inside and out well?

Carlota Urdiales: I was very protected, they didn’t play with me like that and I didn’t allow it. There were people who gave me very good advice.

Lorenzo Ferro: I was also lucky that they didn’t come to me with a strange gesture. But there are thousands of cases like they did to Paulo London. The music industry can be very heavy, very difficult. Luckily, I’m with an independent record label that gives me so much freedom and I’m a resident, but I know people in the music industry who have gone through some pretty ugly things and I know others who have had some impressive things.

However, Lorenzo aspires to be a cook, not an actor or singer like his father (Raphael Ferro from Argentina).

Lorenzo Ferro: It would be my dream to be a chef. But I didn’t know what I wanted to do. When I was that age, I didn’t know what I wanted, and your father had me enrolled in the graphic design department when he told you to go to college. And I never went. Life turned the tables on me, but I would love to be a chef.

The characters who have touched him so far in the movie ‘El Ángel’ and the series ‘El marginal’ are complex children, just like the characters he plays in ‘Fanático’. Chance?

Lorenzo Ferro: Yes, one is a murderer, the other is a prisoner, someone who wants to be someone else in ‘Fanático’… They’re Martians. It would be a good challenge to play an office worker or a football player, someone with the most daily routines.

Carlota, unlike Lorenzo, did you want to devote yourself to music as a child?

Carlota Urdiales: When I was little I wanted to be a supermarket cashier so you can get an idea of my ambitions. Or teacher. The music thing came to my mind later. I always kept it at home because my father was a musician, so I didn’t want to know anything about it.

But he eventually changed his mind.

Carlota Urdiales: At the age of 11 I did a series called ‘Pelotas’ and in one shoot, I experienced what it was like to be in gear and I loved that world. At 16 or so, I got kind of pressured about what I wanted to do in my life, and my dad said to me: Do you like music? Well, sign up to learn bass. Then I left. And because I love acting, I took courses testing the ground to see where I was most comfortable, where I was best. It’s been the last few years to be a little clearer, but I’ve always lived with constant indecision.
