German intelligence agencies are investigating 700 people connected to the Berlin branch of Islam Mustafa University. According to Bild, these people are suspected of carrying out spy activities in favor of Iran.
According to the publication, 63 of them are German citizens. The investigation was launched after US officials added the international “Mustafa University” to the sanctions list. German investigators allege that until recently the educational institution recruited agents for itself along with Iran’s elite special forces Al-Quds.
The Bundestag has already responded to the events. Alexander Dobrindt, president of the Christian Social Union (CSU) group, called on Nancy Feser, head of the German Ministry of Internal Affairs, to close the “Mustafa University” in Germany.
