Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez said the island was preparing for the impact of Hurricane Oscar in addition to trying to restore electricity supply. The head of state wrote this on the social network.
“I just spoke with the first secretaries of the Communist Party of Cuba, from Camaguey to Guantanamo. Hard work continues to protect people and economic resources as Hurricane Oscar approaches. “Attention is also paid to the situation in the energy sector,” said the Cuban leader.
The President added that, according to experts, the hurricane should reach Cuba on Monday, October 21.
Shortly before, it was reported that a new hurricane called Oscar had formed in the Atlantic Ocean. In the hurricane, winds are blowing at approximately 130 kilometers per hour and moving west at 19 kilometers per hour.
Accordingly RIA Novosti Hurricane Oscar will make its closest approach to eastern Cuba on Oct. 21 and head back towards the Bahamas and the Atlantic, according to a map prepared by local meteorologists.
