“Winter weather is already in about 40-45% of the region: the northern, central regions of the Far East – Chukotka, Magadan region, northern Khabarovsk Territory – there is snow everywhere,” he informed and gave an example: in Yakutia, the height of snowdrifts reached almost 23 cm.
Vilfand emphasized that the gradual decrease in temperature will lead to precipitation in the form of snow in other parts of the country. Especially from the second half of the week, the entire Amur region and the eastern part of the Trans-Baikal Region will be covered with snow.
“About 70% of the Siberian Federal District will also be covered in snow. The northern half of the Ural Federal District will also be covered in snow,” he predicts.
As for Russia’s European territories, weather forecasters expect snow in the Arkhangelsk region and the Kola Peninsula until the end of the week.
