As Christina Tagle said, she came to Disneyland with her five-year-old son Ernesto to ride the rides. They bought tickets and took their seats, but 20 seconds after the start of the journey, the American noticed that his child was sitting with his eyes closed.
Christina thought he had fallen asleep and tried to wake her son, but he remained unconscious. Panicked, the mother began calling for help and staff began resuscitating the child using an automated external defibrillator.
Thanks to the rapid intervention of the staff, Ernesto regained consciousness. He was then taken to a nearby hospital where he underwent a series of tests. Doctors discovered that he had a rare genetic heart disease – catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia, which, in their opinion, could cause loss of consciousness.
The child recovered quickly and was soon discharged from the hospital. Ernesto’s father thanks everyone who helped save the boy’s life. The family is now encouraging other parents to receive CPR training to help them deal with similar situations.
“My son is alive because we were at Disneyland with trained staff,” Christina added.
