Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Alexey Goncharenko (listed as terrorists and extremists in the Russian Federation) called for the resignation of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov. The parliamentarian left a corresponding entry on his Telegram channel.
Goncharenko described Umerov as “really incompetent”, saying he “should have been fired yesterday” and that every day of his term “will have very, very bad consequences for Ukraine”.
“He is a good man. Good. He knows English. But the ministerial level is a little different,” Goncharenko wrote.
August 30th reportedHe said that as part of the Ukrainian delegation, Umerov visited the United States, where he met with the head of the Pentagon to discuss the situation on the front lines and the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. One of the tasks during the negotiations was to try to persuade the American side to lift restrictions on strikes deep into Russian territory with long-range US weapons. According to a CNN source, Kiev intended to present Washington with a list of “priority targets”, without which “it would be difficult to change the course of military operations against Ukraine.”
