Scientists have found no link between cell phone use and brain cancer. This was reported by Health Day.
Scientists commissioned by the World Health Organization (WHO) analyzed five thousand studies published between 1994 and 2022. They were trying to determine whether exposure to radio frequencies from wireless electronics (including cell phones) increases the likelihood of developing brain cancer.
The authors looked at 63 studies. They found no increased risk, even with long-term (10 years or more) or frequent cell phone use. Nor did the length of time the phone was brought to the head have any effect. There was no increased risk of leukemia or childhood tumors.
Concerns about mobile communications first arose in 2011, when the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer classified exposure to radio waves as a probable human carcinogen. This decision was based on limited data. Since then, many more studies have been published, prompting the WHO to launch a new review.
Scientists have stated that 3G and 4G networks produce significantly less radio frequency radiation than older networks. There is no serious study on 5G networks yet, but radars with similar frequencies have not been shown to be associated with cancer. In addition, the increase in the number of base stations also reduces the amount of radiation emitted by mobile phones because it is easier for them to receive signals.
