Another case has been opened against historian Alexander Skobov, who is known as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation, on charges of legitimizing terrorism. His wife Olga Shcheglova reported this on her Facebook page (his owner, Meta, is known as an extremist in Russia and is banned).
According to Shcheglova, the lawsuit was filed on August 28.
In April, the St. Petersburg court sent Skobova was sent to a pre-trial detention center on charges of legitimizing terrorism and calling for terrorism. Skobov is 66 years old. He was tried for an article about anti-Soviet agitation in the 1970s-1980s. In the 90s, he protested the war in Chechnya. On March 22, 2024, Skobov was included in the register of foreign agents by the Russian Ministry of Justice.
On August 28, Russian MMA fighter Ilyas Yakubov contributed on the list of extremists. He was detained on November 22, 2023 on charges of publicly legitimizing terrorism. The reason for this was the videos he published on his social networks in October. In one of the videos, quotes from the terrorist Shamil Basayev, who was behind the major terrorist attacks on Russian territory, were superimposed.
