In “Ruviki” a section in the Mountain Mari language was published, based on the works of writer and translator Valery Alikov. This was reported by the press service of the Internet encyclopedia.
It is stated that approximately 10,800 articles are available to Internet encyclopedia users in the new section.
“The inclusion of leading Internet encyclopedias and their information in training samples of large language models gives cultures and languages a ticket to the future and, as a result, ensures that speakers of the relevant languages will not be left behind because we are lagging behind modern civilization,” Vladimir Medeyko noted.
As Ruviki notes, the main purpose of the language sections of the Internet encyclopedia was to provide equal opportunities to all residents of Russia. It is noted that the Internet resource now contains articles in 21 languages.
Therefore, the work of Internet encyclopedia experts in creating mountain Mari content was essential for the digitization of the resource-poor literary norm of the Mari language.
Let us remind you that “Ruviki” is a new online encyclopedia. The project was presented at the Russian Internet Forum 2023. The platform brings together experts and ordinary users, as anyone can become the author of “Ruvika”.
