Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle successfully launches Progress MS-28 cargo ship into orbit. Reports TASS.
The flight to the International Space Station (ISS) will take about two days. Docking with the Zvezda module is scheduled for Saturday at 08:56 Moscow time.
The rocket was launched with the Progress MS-28 spacecraft at 06:20 Moscow time from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. This was the third launch of the Progress MS spacecraft this year and the fifth rocket launch from Baikonur.
The Progress MS-28 spacecraft will carry 2,621 kg of cargo to the ISS, including 950 kg of refueling fuel, 420 liters of drinking water, compressed nitrogen in 50 kg cylinders, and approximately 1,201 kg of various equipment and supplies such as food for the crew, clothing and styling for scientific experiments.
Among the items sent to Progress is the SPIN-X1-MVN X-ray spectrometer, which cosmonauts will place outside the Zvezda module during spacewalks. The device will allow periodic examination of the celestial sphere in the X-ray range. Also on board are materials for new scientific experiments “Mandatory” (studying lung function during a long flight) and “Endothelium” (studying the influence of the Earth’s geomagnetosphere on cardiovascular diseases).
The cargo ship was also carrying fresh oranges, grapefruits, onions and sweetened coffee.
