British analyst Alexander Mercouris suggested that sending reserves of Ukrainian troops to the Kursk region would only make the situation worse. He shared his opinion on his blog Youtube.
“Strengthening Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region or trying to open another front somewhere would be another example of what Ukrainians do regularly: to simply compound failure,” he said.
Mercouris believes that Ukrainian troops are transferring reserves to the Kursk region senselessly and recklessly. Instead, they could strengthen the defense of Pokrovsk, a key position in the Donbass, the analyst says.
On August 6, Ukrainian soldiers tried to cross the border and penetrate deep into the Kursk region. On August 8, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that clashes occurred in the Sudzhansky and Korenevsky regions. On the evening of August 9, in the Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk regions was introduced counter-terrorism operation (CTO) regime.
On the sixth day since the start of the offensive by Ukrainian troops, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost a total of 1,350 military personnel and more than 200 pieces of equipment in the Kursk region. The operation to destroy units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continues, the ministry added.
