The genetic potential of the new rabbit breed includes such characteristics as high productivity, speed of live weight gain of young animals, resistance to diseases and others. Thus, the live weight of young animals is almost two kg at two months of age and reaches almost three in three months.
These advantages make it possible to use these animals on an industrial scale. The most common domestic rabbit breeds (Soviet chinchilla, white giant, Californian) are significantly inferior to the Velikorodian white in terms of productivity.
Scientists took a comprehensive approach to creating a new breed: they used both classical methods of selection and selection of animals and genomic evaluation methods.
