Head of Yakutia Aisen Nikolaev Telegram channel Archaeologists made a sensational discovery during security excavations in Yakutsk, discovering birch bark letters for the first time in the region, the report said.

Excavations were carried out at the intersection of Kalandarishvili Street and Mark Zhirkov Lane in Yakutsk. The first certificate was discovered by Vitaly Tatarinov, a student from the city of Kirov. Nine historical documents have been found so far. Experts suggest that they belong to the archives of the voivodeship office, which was lost in a fire in 1700.

“This is truly a sensational and unique discovery, of enormous scientific and cultural value not only of republican but also federal significance,” Nikolaev said.
