American scientists from the National Institutes of Health studied the effect of multivitamin nutritional supplements on human life expectancy. The results of the research were published in the scientific journal magazine JAMA Open Web.
The team analyzed medical data from nearly 400,000 people over 20 years, focusing on the relationship between regular multivitamin use and reductions in premature deaths from cancer and other causes.
The analysis found that people who took a daily multivitamin had no lower risk of dying from any cause than people who did not take vitamin supplements.
There was also no difference in death rates from cancer, heart disease, or cerebrovascular disease. Results were adjusted for demographic factors.
It is important to evaluate multivitamin use and mortality risk among different populations (for example, those with documented nutritional deficiencies), as well as the potential impact of regular vitamin supplementation on other health conditions associated with aging, the researchers noted.
Earlier scientists clarified Another factor of the lifespan of Japanese residents.
