Global military spending at highest level since 1990 02:04

In 2023, global military expenditures reached the highest level since 1990, averaging over $300 per capita. This is reported with reference to data from the Stockholm Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). RIA News.

Compared to 2022, the share of military expenditures in global GDP increased from 2.2 percent to 2.3 percent. The amount per person was 306 dollars.

The largest military burden, relative to their own capabilities, fell on the countries of the Middle East (4.2% of GDP) and Europe (2.8% of GDP). These are followed by countries in Africa (1.9%), Asia and Oceania (1.7%), and North and South America (1.2%).

In monetary terms, they reached 2.443 trillion dollars. The increasing trend has been observed for the ninth consecutive year.
