Start Stratos. The meeting platform held in the Secadero of the Las Cigarreras Cultural Center. Various events are planned for May and June.
Dedicated to the production, research and collaborative dissemination of cultural projects, this project explores the ecologies that encompass the immediate surroundings of Secadero. At Stratos, participants form working groups or laboratories and develop projects collaboratively.
Whether we like it or not, Secadero’s urban, ecological and identity landscape is transforming.
Beneath the vaults are facilities that are quickly palletized, dismantled, or in some cases thrown away every year. Beyond these, Secadero also witnessed and listened to the processes that changed his immediate environment. Actions at the former tobacco factory in the process of rehabilitation or extensive transformations of adjacent neighborhoods seem to increase the sense of disorientation as a result of change, loss, and having little control over the causes.
This year we want to focus on these processes in order to test our own and other people’s legacies. Discarded materials, lost identities or stored projects are themes covered in some of this year’s laboratories. We ask ourselves: What should we pursue? What to cut?
Stratos Secadero is expressed through four laboratories.
