According to him, only two of the serious adverse events in the world were recorded as deaths after fecal transplantation. However, before the procedure, all these patients were in extremely serious condition due to an underlying gastrointestinal disease. The procedure was a last-ditch attempt to rectify the situation. Death was caused by multidrug-resistant Escherichia coli infection, after which donors began to be checked more carefully to ensure complete bacteriological safety.
“Even if a person has an immunocompromised condition, the procedure is considered safe because the donor undergoes multiple examinations. Therefore, there are scientific studies showing the effectiveness and safety of this procedure in primary immunodeficiency,” he concluded.
