Man who threw a bottle at the President of Argentina was sentenced to prison 04:35

The court sentenced Gaston Mercansini, who threw a bottle at Argentinian President Javier Miley on his inauguration day, to 3.5 years in prison. The newspaper wrote this La Nacion.

Mercansini was accused of “attempting to inflict minor bodily harm” against the president and his sister, Karina Miley. They and the guard were nearby. In this case, one defendant was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison. However, due to the previously suspended sentence, this period was increased to 3.5 years. The man had previously been convicted of assaulting the mother of his children.

The inmate threw a glass bottle at Miley on December 10 as the president was driving from Congress to the capitol building in a convertible. The bottle hit one of the security guards.
