US forces destroyed an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) belonging to Houthi rebels in the airspace over the Gulf of Aden. This was reported by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) on the social network. X.

“On May 12, 2024, at around 3:30 local time in Sanaa (Moscow time), CENTCOM forces in the airspace over the Gulf of Aden destroyed a drone launched by the Houthis from the region they control in Yemen. “There were no injuries,” the statement said.

According to CENTCOM, the UAV posed a direct threat to US warships, their allies, and merchant ships.

In the context of the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in the Gaza Strip, the Houthis announced their intention to attack Israeli-bound ships in the Red Sea waters and in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait until the hostilities end.
