A 35-year-old male patient applied to the healthcare facility with a complaint of runny nose that occurs when he bends his head. The Russian said he suffered a traumatic brain injury after falling from a height of six meters a few months ago.
During the examination, doctors determined that the runny nose was cerebrospinal fluid flowing from the brain.
“Ear, nose and throat specialists performed plastic surgery on the skull base and dura mater using an endoscope from the nasal cavity. Fatty tissue and fascia, the connective tissue membrane of the patient’s femur muscle, were used to close the defect,” said Avetis Martirosov, an otolaryngologist at Zhukovsky Hospital.
After the surgery, the patient was kept under medical supervision for a while; The man has already been discharged for outpatient treatment.
