Russia has created a particularly durable anti-icing coating

Russian scientists have created a particularly durable anti-icing coating. This has been reported DEA News”With reference to the press service of the National Technology Initiative (NTI) Platform.

According to the organization, experts have developed an anti-icing coating for the processing of metal, plastic and glass, which retains its properties for five years, and also has an anti-corrosion effect for up to 15 years.

NTI said that such a coating is made on the basis of fluoropolymers, which, in addition to high hydrophobicity, provides mechanical strength, durability of coatings, as well as long-term protection of the surface from corrosion and ice formation. The innovation successfully demonstrated its anti-icing properties when applied to a part of an electric train at an air temperature below 34°C.

According to Mark Westberg, CEO of the development company, the pavement can be used to process structures of base stations, bridge structures, as well as the housing and communal services, oil and gas, and transportation industries.

“Ice formation in products treated with the compound is reduced by 70% and the service life of the treated surface is doubled,” he said.

Vestberg added that the cost of new coverage is four times lower than imported counterparts and two times lower than Russian ones.

Previously became knownHe said that scientists from the Russian Federation have created a coating to combat the corrosion and icing of aircraft.
