Russian woman swallowed pig’s ear and was hospitalized 15:09

Doctors at the Lukhovitsk hospital saved an elderly resident with intestinal obstruction in the Moscow region; The woman had swallowed a pig’s ear. In this respect reports Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region.

A 60-year-old woman came to the emergency department of Lukhovitskaya hospital complaining of abdominal pain. During the examination, doctors detected an intestinal obstruction, determined that the patient’s condition had worsened, and decided to perform surgical intervention.

“During the operation, we detected a dense obstruction in a part of the small intestine. To eliminate it, an incision was made under the inflamed areas of the intestine and a piece of food was removed – a piece of pig’s ear, which the woman swallowed without chewing while eating,” said Alexander Natalsky, surgeon at the Lukhovitsk hospital.

The operation lasted more than two hours, the patient was discharged for outpatient treatment. The woman will need to adhere to a strict diet and chew her food thoroughly.
