The Russian army will have mobile air defense units designed to fight against drones; these will be rapid-firing cannons and heavy machine guns. Izvestia newspaper reports this, citing sources in the Russian Ministry of Defense.
We are talking about ZU-23-2 automatic cannons and heavy machine guns – these weapons are proposed to be installed on trucks or all-terrain vehicles. This type of anti-aircraft artillery was common during and after the Second World War, but with the development of aviation and the flight speed of fighter aircraft they became a thing of the past.
“We have Shilka complexes with four twin 23 mm guns operating as a single unit. They can set up a fire curtain that no drone can pass through. Military expert Leonkov said that the emergence of small UAVs, including FPV drones, has given a second life to anti-aircraft guns.
His colleague, military expert Yuri Lyamin, notes that such air defense systems will not only be effective against UAVs, but will also assist electronic warfare systems in the fight against UAVs.
Before that in Ukraine accused President Vladimir Zelensky is lying about providing drones to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Previously in Ukraine saidThis prevents the country from producing 2 million drones a year.
