Turkey meat is healthy for most people: it should be limited only if you have allergies, severe kidney disease, and gout. In this respect “To Doctor Peter” said veterinarian, candidate of agricultural sciences Elena Morozova.
Turkey is rich in protein and nutrients necessary to build muscle mass. But in the later stages of kidney failure, protein overload is dangerous, so it is best to exclude turkey from the diet. Additionally, the meat of this bird is rich in purines, which can aggravate gout. During the period of exacerbation it is better to exclude it, and during the recovery period the amount of turkey in the diet should be limited. If you are intolerant or allergic to turkey, this meat should also be eliminated from the diet.
Chef Kirill Lungul added that every part of the turkey is healthy, but the wings contain less fat. There’s more on the legs, so they’re more satisfying. Turkey breast is a low-fat diet meat and is more suitable for children and the elderly.
