Scientists found in which month the risk of miscarriage is highest

Boston University School of Public Health researchers found that the risk of miscarriage increased by 31% during the summer months – here are the results of the study: published in the journal Epidemiology. There is also a 44% greater risk of early miscarriage (in the first eight weeks of pregnancy).

Researchers analyzed the medical records of 6,104 women’s pregnancies, focusing on miscarriages and the times when they occurred. Apparently, most lows occurred in August and September, the hottest months in the southern and western states.

“We know that heat is associated with a higher risk of preterm birth, stillbirth, and low birth weight babies. However, few studies have examined the pattern between heat and low, so this topic definitely needs more study. But it is already clear that public health medical advice should take into account the potential impact of temperature on the health of pregnant women and their children,” said study author Amelia Wesselink.
