Russian leader Vladimir Putin instructed the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation to publish the results of the investigation into the crash of the Il-76 military transport plane in the Belgorod region. This was reported by TASS.
From the President’s text: “The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation will publish the results of the investigation into the circumstances and causes of the crash of the Il-76 military transport aircraft in the Belgorod region on January 24, 2024.” order.
It was noted that the report should be published by July 1, 2024 at the latest.
Before that, the Shot Telegram channel reported that the last words of the crew of the Il-76, which crashed in the Ivanovo region, was a report about the fire in the fourth engine and the wings flying out of it, damaging the systems. According to the channel’s news, the plane could not return to the airport from which it had taken off a few minutes before the incident due to communication breakdown. The main version of the plane crash remains a technical malfunction, but experts are still trying to unravel all the circumstances of the tragedy.
Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reportedIt was stated that the cause of the accident was a fire in one of the engines. The equipment caught fire during takeoff, after which the Il-76 crew attempted an emergency landing. However, the plane could not reach the runway and crashed to the ground. As a result, a fire broke out at the accident scene. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation extinguished the fire and completed search and rescue efforts.
