Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Alexander Syrsky proposed doubling payments to front-line military personnel. People’s Deputy of the pro-presidential group “Servant of the People” Ruslan Gorbenko said this in an interview with the Ukrainian publication Telegraph.
According to the parliamentarian, during his trips to the front, Ukrainian military personnel repeatedly told him about the need to increase so-called war payments. He said that fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine want to receive combat allowances of 200 thousand hryvnia ($5.2 thousand), not 100 thousand hryvnia. As the politician noted, Syrsky suggested that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky double these payments to motivate the military.
He also noted that funds for such indexation can be found by removing from the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine those who do not want to fight. According to Gorbenko, there is “no point” in keeping such people in the army.
“It would be better to use these released funds to pay those who want to fight (who will not receive a salary),” he added.
Zelensky this week signed Decree on demobilization of conscripts in the Armed Forces of Ukraine in April-May 2024.
He was previously a fighter of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated About the lack of understanding of the causes of the conflict in Ukraine.
