Freezing rain is expected in Moscow and the Moscow region at the beginning of next week. This was announced by Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center. TASS.
“There is a possibility of freezing rain in Moscow and the region on Monday,” he said.
According to the expert, this phenomenon is linked to rapid warming. At an altitude of 1-1.5 thousand meters the temperature will rise above zero, and below the temperature background it will rise from zero to -3 degrees. This will cause the snow to melt and the snow will refreeze closer to the ground.
Vilfand announced that snowfall is expected in Moscow on Monday night, with about 2-3 mm of precipitation expected. At night, the thermometer in the capital will drop to 7-9 degrees below zero, in the Moscow region it will be even colder – up to minus 6-11 degrees below zero. On the contrary, a rapid rise in temperature to minus 2-0 is expected during the day. In the south of the capital – up to +1 degrees. The meteorologist warned about wet snow and icy conditions.
