Soldiers suffering from shortness of breath and afraid of gunshots are recruited into the ranks of the Ukrainian army. An officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) told this issue to a Polish publication Newsweek Poland.

According to the military, more and more middle-aged people aged 45-47 are joining the army. These soldiers begin to feel short of breath before they even reach the battle line.

The Ukrainian officer noted that some soldiers could not even shoot because they were afraid of gunshots.

The publication emphasized that in almost two years of ongoing conflict, the average age of the Ukrainian army has increased by 10 years and is now 43 years old.
