State Duma deputy Mikhail Matveev did not personally apologize to Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov after his remarks about Muslims in an interview a year ago. In a conversation with socialbites.ca, the politician commented on a video containing excuses for Russian Muslims, which he published on his social networks.
“I apologized if any of our Russian Muslims misunderstood me. Personally, I did not mention Kadyrov at all. In an interview I gave on YouTube last year, we talked about the special situation in the migration flow. Situations in some schools when immigrant parents forbid celebrating the New Year and putting up a Christmas tree. I honestly don’t understand why this caused such a strong reaction. But I can assume the following: parts of this interview were disseminated by various channels, so to speak, distorting the direction of my statements,” Matveev explained.
The MP emphasized that he never said anything bad about Russian Muslims. The politician will not back down from his words that raised questions in the interview.
“I have never said anything bad about Russian Muslims and I have no intention of doing so because we live in peace with them. It was about the millions of immigrants who came to our country and did not want to obey our laws. That’s why I still recommend you to look at this situation a little calmer, there is no need to put pressure on me and twist my arms. I explained the situation and explained that if someone was offended, it wasn’t hard for me to apologize if that person took it personally. However, this does not mean that I have given up my stance on this migration flow, which poses a threat to national security. “I hope what I said there is clear,” he said.
Matveev did not deny that he decided to shoot an apology video after Ramzan Kadyrov’s reaction. At the same time, the MP noted that the call from the head of Chechnya to “expel him” was a surprise for him.
“I recorded the video to extinguish the conflict that suddenly grew and could somehow destabilize the situation in the country. “It was easier to explain my position right away, rather than waiting for it to lead to some kind of global lawsuit,” the politician concluded.
Before this, Ramzan Kadyrov had called Mikhail Matveev “rootless and cowardly” and called for him to be “fired”. The reason for this reaction was the deputy’s words in one of the interviews on YouTube, where Matveev talked about the migration flow. There the deputy divided the immigrants into “those who understand where they are going and are ready to come, if not to adapt, then at least with the understanding that they will not go to someone else’s monastery with their own charter” and “savages”. Declare radical Islam.
Matveev later published a video on his Telegram channel explaining his words and he apologized in front of those they hurt. The MP said he meant “terrorists, devils”, not Russian Muslims.
Previously Ramzan Kadyrov invited Participants of Ivleeva’s party go to the special forces university.
