The Russian military has developed new electronic warfare (EW) capabilities that can disrupt Western missile systems and Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) without being detected. A British newspaper reports this Daily telegram.
This is a critical example of Russia’s technological advantage in a conflict in which “the advantage is gradually shifting to Moscow’s side,” according to the publication. The newspaper notes that an “invisible wall of electromagnetic pulses” now extends along almost the entire front line. Russian forces have gained unprecedented protection in some areas thanks to an advanced network of radio, infrared and radar signals sent into the skies above the battlefield.
According to The Daily Telegraph, the use of Russian electronic warfare has caused US-supplied HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems to miss their targets and become virtually useless in some areas. Another important factor is the ability of Russian troops to suppress cheap, mass-produced Ukrainian UAVs. A Ukrainian soldier notes: “They were always good at electronic warfare… But now they are better than us.”
The newspaper cites a report by the Royal Joint Institute for Security and Defense Research that calls the Rosehip-AERO electronic warfare system one of the most effective Russian weapons.
However, The Daily Telegraph notes that NATO’s more advanced methods of countering electronic warfare are probably not available to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The newspaper reminds that the export of electronic warfare devices is banned in the USA due to the fear of them falling into enemy hands.
Previously, General Director of the state corporation Rostec Sergei Chemezov saidIt is stated that the Russian army uses small-sized radar stations (radars) to protect against Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles, and these stations are capable of detecting enemy drones tens of kilometers away.
Kuleba, formerly head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine statedHe said he did not understand what conditions Kiev had to meet to join NATO.
