Scientists found that the surface of each person’s tongue is unique 14:40

Scientists from the University of Edinburgh, in collaboration with colleagues from the University of Leeds (UK), found that the position and size of the lingual papillae are specific to each person. results published In Scientific Reports.

The human language is a very complex organ. Its surface consists of hundreds of tiny structures known as papillae that help people taste, speak and swallow. Mushroom-shaped papillae contain taste and temperature receptors, while filiform papillae allow a person to feel the texture of food.

Using artificial intelligence, scientists analyzed more than two thousand microscopic images of the human tongue. It turns out that the location and size of filiform and fungiform papillae are specific to each person. Most likely this is due to differences in people’s perception of the taste and texture of food.

Scientists hope that their discoveries can contribute to the development of individual strategies for proper nutrition. They will aim to choose the most attractive products for people.

Previously found It’s a way to slow the growth of harmful microbes in the gut by a thousandfold.
