American magazine writers Military Watch Magazine (MWM) believes that Kazakhstan rightly chose the Russian Su-30SM over the French Rafale.
Observers of the publication noted that the Su-30 not only flies much farther with more powerful weapons, but also has significantly greater awareness of its surroundings due to the radar twice the size of the Rafale.
MWM also noted the similarity of Kazakhstan’s choice with Algeria’s decision in 2006. Journalists stated that France tried to sell warplanes to the African country, but ultimately preferred the Russian Su-30 MKA.
