According to this RBCSeveral employees of one of the FSB departments were detained in connection with a case related to the Merlion company. These employees, who supervise the activities of law enforcement agencies, are accused of extorting 5 billion rubles from the company management in exchange for the completion of the investigation.
The detention took place last week, together with the former head of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the North-West District of the capital, Sergei Romodanovsky, inspector Andrei Zheryutin and the head of the Khoroshevsky investigation department, Rustam Yusupov.
The Basmanny Court arrested the detained employees of the Investigative Committee on charges of organizing a criminal community and accepting bribes on a particularly large scale. It was also reported that the former head of the FMS, General Konstantin Romodanovsky, Sergei and Rustam Yusupov were detained with the operational support of the FSB.
As part of this case, the involvement of Alexei Nesnov, investigator of the North-Western District Investigation Directorate of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Moscow Investigative Committee, who previously worked under Romodanovsky, is also being investigated. He investigated a case of “attempt” against Merlion’s former CEO, Vyacheslav Simonenko. Nesnov was placed on the international wanted list and arrested by the Basmanny Court.
In October 2020, three co-owners of the Merlion company (Oleg Karchev, Vladislav Mangutov and Alexey Abramov, as well as former vice president of Euroset Boris Levin) were detained on charges of organizing an assassination attempt on Simonenko.
Previously the FSB detained Anti-corruption fighters for fraud of 15 million rubles.
