The Swiss Ministry of Economy plans to conduct an investigation in connection with reports from a number of publications suggesting that Ukraine was able to procure the country’s ammunition through one of the Polish companies. The agency reports that AFP.
The document states that Bern prohibits other states from selling weapons purchased from it due to its neutral status. For this, Switzerland’s foreign partners must obtain the approval of the country’s government.
“This incident is being investigated. <...> No comment as it continues,” the agency quoted the department as saying.
At the same time, the authors of the publication emphasized that private organizations are not obliged to sign a declaration on the re-export of military equipment. At the same time, representatives of the Polish company suspected of selling Swiss weapons to Kiev said that this situation was not alarming and did not violate any norms.
According to company employees, all agreements and transactions undergo comprehensive verification. Moreover, control is exercised directly by the Polish government.
Representatives of the organization also expressed their desire to bring to justice an American journalist who wrote an article about the sale of Swiss weapons to Ukraine. The AFP material highlights that company employees are now examining the legal basis for filing a lawsuit.
