The undersigned lawyers, being aware of the Institutional Declaration regarding an agreement between political parties, approved by the 1st Bar Association of Alicante Şanlı in an extraordinary session on November 10, 2023, we would like to state that we reject the said Institutional Declaration in the most definitive way. For the following reasons:
1°) Defense of rights and freedoms in accordance with the principles of the social and democratic state preached by art and established by constitutional law. Article 1 of the General Statutes of the Legal Profession should require respect for the results of legally held elections and the composition of the Cortes Generales and its function of representing citizens; The corporate statement of ICALI’s board of directors is contradictory. 2°) The published statement violates the principle of impartiality and impartiality that should guide the actions of the board of directors, has a pronounced political bias and, given that membership is compulsory for many of ICALI’s member lawyers, we do not agree with this opinion. All.

4°) ICALI’s board of directors has never commented on the strictly controversial decisions of the central or regional government or on the processing of proposals or bills by political groups that directly affect the application of law. So, although they deny it, this statement has a distinct and unacceptable political bias.
5.- It is not the duty of the board of directors to be the defender of the judiciary, which has competent bodies, and while the Board of Directors of ICAL is dedicated to holding extraordinary meetings on matters that do not concern it, the Directorate General of Lawyers continues to expect this Institution to fulfill its true purposes; these include defending the rights and professional interests of its members; These purposes are often in conflict with the treatment we receive in courts and tribunals and, among others, to ensure the satisfaction of general interests in the practice of our profession.
WE, therefore, DEMAND THE IMMEDIATE WITHDRAWAL OF ALL INSTRUMENTS OF THE CORPORATE DECLARATION AND THE WITHDRAWAL OF THE CURRENT BOARD FROM PUBLIC. Alicante 13 November 2023.
