Berlin plans to transfer two more IRIS-T air defense systems to Kiev by the end of 2023. This was reported by the Ukrainian publication NV with reference to the German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Jäger.
As the diplomat said, three of these systems are currently deployed on Ukrainian territory. However, their numbers are expected to increase before the beginning of next year.
“Planned [развернуть] five [систем противовоздушной обороны IRIS-T] by the end of the year,” Yeger said.
He also added that Kiev should soon receive additional Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) from Berlin. However, the ambassador did not specify exactly when this would happen and how many pieces of equipment would be included in the new batch of these installations.
