Texas police kill escaped prisoner suspected of 5 murders

Leon County Police (Texas) announced this Thursday death of a newly escaped prisoner that he linked to the murders of five during his escape. The official Facebook page of the León Police assures that the prisoner, identified as Gonzalo Artemio López, was “captured and died”. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice, for its part, claimed: López was killed by agents’ bullets. No police officers were injured in the shootout in Jourdanton, Texas.

Earlier, authorities had reported that five bodies (an adult and four children) were found in a home in the Centerville area, in the area where the escaped prisoner was being sought. According to the police, the suspect used the vehicle in the house to continue fleeing.

López, who was offered a $50,000 reward for his capture, escaped on the 12th when he was transported by prison bus to a medical center.

Jason Clark, head of the Texas Criminal Justice Department, told the media that the house is the second home of a family from the town of Houston and has been checked out several times. According to Clark, authorities have evidence López broke into the house and killed five people He was found dead, although he did not give detailed information.
