Fiscal year 2023, for which the United States calculates the provision of military assistance to Ukraine under Lend-Lease, has ended. This was reported by the Ukrainian publication Strana.ua.
The publication explains that the fiscal year ends on September 30, and throughout its operation, Kiev did not receive anything under this program – the United States used other mechanisms to help Ukraine.
“In reality, Lend-Lease never worked – because the United States already gave weapons to Ukraine without any payment or conditions, which was completely more economically profitable for Kiev than Lend-Lease,” the material says.
The authors also explain that this is how White House representatives explained that the United States does not use the Lend-Lease mechanism.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexey Danilov aforementionedHe said the United States could supply the country with Lend-Lease weapons that Kiev could use by September 2024.
Columnist Pablo Jofre Leal suggestedThat Kiev will have to pay for the weapons provided under Lend-Lease from its own territory and make them available to the United States and NATO.
Former House Armed Services Committee Chairman Adam Smith acceptedHe said that the US Congress will not approve aid packages for Ukraine.
