Cyberpsychologists from Nizhny Novgorod Lobachevsky University (NNGU) have developed a digital platform called UnnCyberpsy that allows research on sleep and sleep outside the laboratory. This was reported by TASS citing the university press service.
“Sleep studies often require the presence of a person in the laboratory, including at night. This creates many inconveniences for the subjects and violates the purity of the experiment. We have created a virtual environment that allows us to study sleep remotely,” said the press service, author of the study, UNN He quotes Valeria Demareva, head of the cyberpsychology laboratory at the Faculty of Social Sciences.
He said the digital platform has demonstrated its effectiveness in studying sleepiness dynamics. Participants in the experiment evaluated their sleepiness and entered the data into the system. They did this at regular intervals. The results were consistent with data collected using traditional methods.
According to Demareva, applications are usually created for a single test and record the person’s condition at a particular moment.
“Our system allows us to observe changes in the situation over time. The branched algorithm makes the system flexible and allows you to add new parameters to the experiment,” said the head of the laboratory.
As mentioned, UnnCyberpsy is scalable. It can be used in studies where the human condition is monitored cyclically. In the future, cyber psychologists at the university plan to use the platform to conduct cognitive tests.
