The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation began to check information that the Ukrainian army sent Russian prisoners of war to the minefield. This was reported on the ministry’s Telegram channel “Sledkom”.
“A check was carried out on information regarding inhumane treatment of Russian prisoners by representatives of the Ukrainian armed forces,” the statement said.
The Investigative Committee noted that some media outlets had previously published a video recording in which the Ukrainian army allegedly sent captured Russian soldiers into a minefield.
The investigation is being carried out by the military investigation department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation; Investigators will determine the date of the video recording, the area shown in the video, and the circumstances of the incident.
The ministry added that if information regarding inhumane treatment of Russian military personnel is confirmed, the issue of initiating a criminal case and subsequently prosecuting the perpetrators will be decided.
