A former traffic police inspector in Volgograd was found guilty of particularly large-scale fraud and accepting bribes. In this respect reported In the press service of the Investigative Department of the RF Investigative Committee of the Volgograd Region.
The investigation revealed that from 2017 to 2019, a police officer received more than 22 million rubles from an individual entrepreneur for not holding his employees accountable for administrative offenses. The former inspector received another 13 million rubles from the same businessman after his dismissal in 2019 – the former traffic police officer assured the businessman that he would continue to cover the expenses of his employees by transferring the money to his former colleagues.
The court found the man guilty and sentenced him to 8 years and 1 month in prison, to be served in a maximum security colony. The attacker was also stripped of his rank as police chief and banned from holding positions related to the functions of a government representative in state officials and local governments for 4 years.
