Taliban orders female TV presenters to cover their faces

The Taliban (a banned organization in Russia) ordered all female news anchors to cover their faces during broadcast. Washington post.

As a token of solidarity, their male colleagues wore face masks. The deputy director of Afghan company ToloNews said the TV station staff were “in deep grief”.

The international community refuses to officially recognize the Taliban government because of the restriction of women’s rights, as well as the suppression of religious minorities and political freedoms. The Taliban, citing a fundamentalist interpretation of Islamic law, banned women from traveling unaccompanied and restricted women and girls’ access to education and employment.
