NASA’s chief climate expert, Gavin Schmidt, said July 2023 will likely be the warmest month on record. It has been reported Guard.
According to NASA’s global temperature analysis, in 2023 Earth experienced the hottest June in its history. Gavin Schmidt, director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, told reporters that July 2023 will likely be the hottest month on Earth in hundreds, if not thousands, of years.
“We’re seeing unprecedented change around the world,” Schmidt said.
He added that the changes, while shocking, did not surprise scientists: Over the past 40 years, temperatures have risen from ten to ten years.
The expert added that according to various estimates, 2023 may be the hottest year in history with a probability of 50-80 percent. Also, 2024 will be even hotter. 2016 is currently considered the warmest year recorded on Earth. At the meeting, NASA also pointed out that heat is directly related to greenhouse gas emissions.
“We know from science that the warming we see on our planet is inevitably caused by human activities, especially greenhouse gas emissions. “It’s affecting people and ecosystems around the world,” said Kate Calvin, Chief Scientist and Senior Climate Advisor.
Speaking about NASA’s climate projects, Karen Saint-Germain, director of NASA’s Earth Sciences Division, said the agency not only wants to accelerate scientific discoveries, but also ensure that new research increases preparedness for climate change.
“Our aim is to disseminate scientific knowledge and knowledge in a way that helps society,” he concluded.
