Roselectronics holding, part of Rostec, has developed portable radar stations (RLS) that can effectively detect unmanned boats up to 6 kilometers away and provide protection for offshore facilities. DEA News With reference to Andrey Komogortsev, general manager of the Rybinsk Instrument Manufacturing Plant, part of Ruselectronics.
The mini-radar is a portable multifunctional station, the weight of which does not exceed 25 kilograms with a rotary device and batteries.
Initially, these stations were developed to protect critical infrastructure from drones and to detect ground vehicles.
According to Komogortsev, the water surface does not create an additional interference with the operation of the radar. A three-meter amateur boat is guaranteed to be visible from a distance of 6 kilometers. This makes it possible to use such stations for the protection of sea and river objects from unauthorized entry.
Denis Fedutinov, a leading Russian drone expert and editor-in-chief of the magazine Unmanned Aviation, confirmed that such complexes can be successfully used to protect structures such as the Crimean bridge, naval bases and other coastal facilities from attacks by naval drones.
Such radars generally use millimeter wave signals and can effectively detect air, ground and sea targets. They also provide accurate target coordinates at any time of the day, which makes it possible to effectively neutralize Ukrainian unmanned boats heading for the bridge.
The expert states that according to open data, the radar detected an amateur boat with a length of 3 meters at a distance of 6 kilometers, while the Ukrainian unmanned boats were 5.5 meters long.
